Pranayam Deep Penetration

Pranayam Deep Penetration

PRANAYAM
Improve mentally, physically & spiritually
(PURIFIE AS A WHOLE)

‘Prana’ breath, "Ayama", to give direction, to restrain , to spread or to stop i.e. to control of the life force by controlling the normal breathing cycle.

Evils are destroyed by Pranayam.

It is essential for purification of body and mind. Pran is not only the air; it is the vital energy in the air which keep us alive. Chetna comes with pran.

For living we need, FOOD, WATER & AIR.

ROULE OF THREES – 3 weeks without food, 3 days without water,                  3 minutes without oxygen person cannot survive.

Expulsion of waste product, Toxins –

1) Stools   - Expel Solid waste .We pass 1 or 2 times per day so it is least important. Take lot of roughage and water to remove solid waste toxins.

2) URINE – Expel Liquid waste. We pass 6-10 times per day. Little more important than Stools. It is 24 hours involuntary process. Take lot of water to remove water soluble waste toxins.

3) PERSPIRATION – Expel Liquid waste toxins. It is a 24 four hours process from the skin which is the biggest organ of the body and more important than urination. It is involuntary and voluntary also.

4) AIR – Remove air waste, toxins of Body and Mind. It is also 24 hour’s inhalation and exhalation involuntary and voluntary process also. Maximum purification is done by air i.e. respiration. It can cause physical & mental purification .Therefore in Yoga we give maximum importance to Pranayams.

NOTE-

Do accurate posture physically. Feel with concentration on the affected body parts.  With inhalation which carry oxygen, environmental energy to the exact locations. Then exhale while coming to normal position. It will help to remove toxins, excessive deposition from the affected body organs.

Pranayam includes controlling the..

      1) Inhalation (Poorak)

      2) Exhalation (Rechak) and

      3) Stopping of breath (Kumbhak)

          i)  Antrik Kumbhak

          ii) Bhaia Kumbhak

          iii) Madhya Kumbhak   -

              a) Inhale, stop breath and again inhale

              b) Exhale, stop breath again exhale

              c) Inhale, stop breath in 2 steps

              d) Exhale, stop breath in 2 steps

              e) In all steps do silent chanting of Om i.e. called as Meditational Breathing (See Sudarshan Chakra Meditation) any Mantra in all steps?

       There are four types of breathing;

  1. Chest Breathing.
  2. Abdomen Breathing.

       Yogic Breathing -

  1. Chest Abdomen Breathing.
  2. Abdomen chest Breathing.

Subdivision of Vayu;

1) Prana vayu; pervades the region from throat to the heart. It helps in the downward flow of breath.

2) Apana Vayu; located below the naval region. It strengthens the large intestine and helps in the expulsion of wastes like urine and stools.

 3) Samana Vayu; It pervades the region between the heart and the naval. It controls the digestive organs.

4) Udana Vayu; pervades the region from the throat to the brain. It controls sense organs & brain.

5) Vyan Vayu;  pervades the entire human body . It coordinates all the Vayus and other centers of energy & the extremities which keeps proper balance of the body.

According to the Rigveda, nadi means “stream,” The Sanskrit word NAAD, means “movement.” Nadis transport various subtle energies throughout the body. They operate like channels, or a delivery system, from the chakras to whole body.

Controlling the flow of pran vayu from nadis, Ida and Pingla i.e. breathe through left & right nostrils are Pranayam.

You have to learn BANDHS to do Pranayam –

  1. Jalanda Bandh ,
  2. Udyaan Bandh
